I need help with Portuguese!!?

As far as I know, O denotes masculinity. A denotes femininity. Like when you say Obrigado, it's supposed to mean you're a guy and Obrigada when you're a gal. Portuguese is a gender assigning language like most of the Romance Languages. It matters because that is the rule of the language, it makes it hard but for me it also makes in beautiful.
