Is it immature to never admit when you are wrong?

Most people will defend their position until they are proven wrong - most. Yet some people seem to be correct more often than others, even almost to the point of being correct always. I know people of authority don't want to appear imperfect. Besides, it would be a real nuisance for people going around saying "I'm sorry I made a mistake" or "I was wrong".
